Bose SoundDock Series 1 Review

Bose has long been manufacturing high-end sound systems, but the Bose’s premium products come with an overly expensive price tag, and at 400 US dollars the SoundDock Portable Digital Music System series 1 is no exception.

There are many other companies out there selling the same kind of product for much less, so we got a Bose SoundDock series 1 to see if it is worth the money.

BOSE SOUNDDOCK SERIES 1- SIZE AND DESIGN

One of the things that amazed us about the Bose SoundDock series 1 was how beautifully it was built. It feels extremely robust and sturdy. However, considering the price and the size, we expect a little more flair.

Bose SoundDock series 1 has a very standard design, and there is nothing unique about it. We found it same what we expected from a portable dock speaker. At 400 dollars, it would have been great if the company adds some unique feature or design element to it.

BOSE SOUNDDOCK SERIES 1- SMART FEATURE AND PORTABILITY

There is one smart feature in the Bose SoundDock series 1, a mechanical “docking station,” which rotates out when not in use. When you press the logo on the device, it spins around ready to dock your iPhone into.

The SoundDock series 1 is heavy, weighing around 2.4kgs which is a lot. Taking it outside your house wasn’t a problem, as the built-in carrying handle around the back made it easier to port it anywhere you want. However, it’s a little heavy to carry around with you if you are taking it to some other place.

BOSE SOUNDDOCK SERIES 1- NOT THE PERFECT TOUCH

The volume buttons on the side of the Bose SoundDock series 1 speaker are overly touched sensitive. But luckily, the Bose Series 1 SoundDock comes with a remote control which has fantastic click buttons. The remote has all the options you’ll need to have while playing music. Like volume, power, play, and pause, you can skip tracks as well. There is also an option to forward, go back or even skip through playlists as well.

BOSE SOUNDDOCK SERIES 1- SOUND CHECK

Though portability plays a significant role in the SoundDock series 1, the sound quality is the most important aspect we all are looking forward to. For such a small device, the audio on the SoundDock series 1 is beyond your imagination, with a rich and natural sound that goes very well with a variety of music genres.

BOSE SOUNDDOCK SERIES 1 – BATTERY AND CHARGING

The brilliant sound on the Bose SoundDock 1 is nothing if it fails to run long enough to keep you entertained. Bose SoundDock series 1 claims to offer straight eight hours of battery life on just a single charge. We found that this wasn’t the case. But for us, the Bose SoundDock Bluetooth speaker 1 lasted just 4 hours from a single charge at a great volume.

But for those who are willing to listen to tunes in comparatively low volume will be presented with longer play times. We got almost 6 to 7 hours when used at a volume more suitable for indoor use.
